: Comparative Typological Study

This workshop explores the main principles of what structures the city today through a typological analysis of the territory, based on the comparaison of two Indispensable theoretical references.

“Learning From Las Vegas” is an academic study from Robert Venturi that consists of an urban analysis of Las Vegas. While all the other academics were interested in classical references, Robert Venturi proved through this research that the city is not about formal beauty, but about evolving systems of elements.
“Delirious New York” from Rem Koolhaas might be the only urbanism “novel”. Through a series of small stories, it describes New York in a fantasist way.

Our approach of understanding the urban territory is to base yourself on these two books as a tool to decode the typologies behind the form and to interpret their consequences.
