: Paper Architecture and Critical Design

Over the past decade, L’Atelier DEV has developed a series of projects that we describe as Paper Architecture. These works emerged from competitions, exhibitions, academic settings, and self-initiated experiments. They are not intended to be built, but rather to question, provoke, and expand architectural thinking. Positioned within the field of critical design, they form a body of work that explores architecture as a medium of reflection rather than production.

This collection brings together territorial poems translated into collages, theoretical clashes staging unlikely encounterssuch as Venturi versus Koolhaas, speculative proposals for Venice and Brussels, or ironic subversions of Le Corbusier’s legacy. From reimagining the Palace of Justice as a Palace of Pleasure to reconsidering the masculinity of modernist myths, these projects operate as essays in space, narrative, and theory.

Seen together, they reveal a continuous investigation into how architecture can exist beyond construction: as discourse, as fiction, as critique, and as cultural commentary.
